Bermuda Bliss: A Virgin Voyages Stop Full of Color, Charm & Coastal Magic

If you’ve followed me for a while, you already know that travel is so much more than a getaway for me — it’s how I recharge, reconnect, and rediscover wonder. Every destination tells a story, and on my recent Virgin Voyages cruise, Bermuda was the chapter that completely stole my heart. From pink sands and turquoise waves to underground caves and charming pastel streets, this island delivered beauty, culture, and adventure in perfect balance.

The Scenic Route

We started our day with the Bermuda Scenic Tour, and it was the best decision we could’ve made. The drive along the South Shore is absolutely breathtaking — think turquoise waves, rugged cliffs, and soft pink sand that almost glows in the sunlight. Every turn felt like a postcard come to life.

Our guide shared bits of history, local stories, and fun island secrets that made me appreciate just how special Bermuda really is. It’s the kind of place that feels both refined and relaxed at the same time — a mix of British charm and island soul.

Gibb’s Hill Lighthouse

Next up was the Gibb’s Hill Lighthouse, one of Bermuda’s most iconic landmarks. I’ll be honest — the 185 steps to the top gave my legs a little workout, but the view was so worth it. From up there, you can see the entire island stretched out before you — coral reefs, colorful rooftops, and that beautiful Virgin Voyages ship anchored off in the distance. Standing there in the ocean breeze, it was one of those “wow” moments that makes you realize just how big and beautiful the world is.

Pretty in Pink

Then it was time for one of Bermuda’s most famous treasures — the pink sands of Horseshoe Bay. Photos don’t do it justice. The sand really does have that soft blush tint, and the water is the clearest blue I’ve ever seen. We spent some time walking along the shore, dipping our feet in the waves, and just soaking in the view. It’s peaceful, relaxing, and absolutely picture-perfect.

The Crystal Caves

Another absolute must-see in Bermuda is the Crystal Caves — and trust me, they are every bit as magical as they sound. Descending into the cool underground caverns feels like stepping into another world. Sparkling stalactites hang from above, perfectly mirrored in the crystal-clear underground lake below. The lighting highlights the natural formations, creating an almost ethereal glow. It’s quiet, otherworldly, and humbling — a beautiful reminder of just how many wonders lie beneath the surface of this tiny island. The story of their accidental discovery by two boys chasing a lost cricket ball makes the visit even more charming.

Shopping on Front Street

After the caves and beaches, we made our way to Hamilton’s Front Street, full of pastel-colored buildings, friendly faces, and charming local shops. I could’ve spent hours wandering in and out of boutiques and art galleries. There’s a mix of luxury shopping and local finds — from hand-crafted jewelry to bright Bermuda shorts. We grabbed a refreshing drink, did a little people-watching, and just enjoyed the easy island vibe.

The Royal Naval Dockyard

Before heading back to the ship, we explored the Royal Naval Dockyard, and I’m so glad we did. This area blends Bermuda’s rich maritime history with modern island energy. Once home to the British Navy, the Dockyard has been beautifully restored and now houses museums, shops, restaurants, and craft markets. It’s the perfect place to pick up local art or handmade souvenirs, and the views of the harbor are incredible. The combination of history, culture, and coastal beauty makes it a fantastic stop before sailing off into the sunset.

Why Bermuda Is the Perfect Cruise Port Stop

Bermuda is one of those rare destinations that feels effortlessly balanced — easy enough to explore in a day, yet rich enough that you’ll want to come back. Its size makes it perfect for a port stop: you can climb a lighthouse, swim at a pink beach, explore hidden caves, and shop a lively downtown all before dinner. The island is spotless, safe, and welcoming, with a culture that blends British refinement and island warmth. Whether you’re after adventure, relaxation, or a little of both, Bermuda offers just the right amount of everything — all wrapped up in turquoise water and pastel charm.

Why Now Is the Time to Travel

If the past few years have taught us anything, it’s that time is precious — and waiting for “someday” often means missing out on today. Travel fills your soul in a way few things can. It’s not just about checking off destinations; it’s about collecting moments that remind you what it feels like to truly live. The laughter with friends, the salty breeze, the first glimpse of someplace new — those are the things that stay with you. If you’ve been dreaming about taking that trip, this is your gentle nudge: go. The world is open, and it’s waiting for you.

By the time we returned to the ship, my heart was full (and yes, my camera roll was too!). Bermuda is one of those destinations that feels both adventurous and soothing — a perfect mix for a Virgin Voyages stop. The South Shore & Front Street Scenic Tour was the perfect way to experience the island’s highlights without feeling rushed.

If you ever find yourself on a Virgin Voyage that includes Bermuda — take the tour, explore the caves, climb the lighthouse, walk the pink sand, and leave a little room in your suitcase for something special from Front Street. You won’t regret it.
