Five Things You Need to Do Before Planning Your 2027 Vacation

2027 might sound far away, but if travel is on your radar for next year, now is the perfect time to start thinking about what you want that trip to look like! You don’t need to have a destination picked or dates nailed down just yet. Start here:

1. Decide who’s coming along

Is this a couples getaway? Immediate family trip? Girls trip? Or are we inviting the grandparents, cousins, and everybody else too?

There are pros to both! Smaller groups can mean more flexibility with dates, accommodations, and activities. Bigger trips can create some incredible memories together, but they usually require more coordination—and often need to be planned further in advance.

2. Figure out the vibe

Before choosing a destination, think about how you want this vacation to feel.

Do you want to relax on a beach? Explore a new city? Bundle up somewhere snowy? Cruise to several destinations? Spend a week riding roller coasters? Go somewhere adventurous?

Your ideal vibe can help narrow down both where you should go and when you should go. A tropical getaway during hurricane season or a theme park trip during the hottest part of summer might not be the experience you pictured!

3. Think about your timing

January 2027 and October 2027 are both “next year”—but the planning process for those trips looks very different right now.

If you’re thinking about traveling early in 2027, it’s time to start making decisions. If you’re looking toward later in the year, you may have more breathing room, but getting started early gives us time to watch pricing, availability, promotions, flights, and more.

4. Set a comfortable vacation budget

You don’t necessarily need an exact number yet, but having a realistic range makes planning so much easier.

Think beyond just the hotel. Consider transportation, flights, food, activities, excursions, tickets, souvenirs, and anything else that’s important to your family.

And remember: a bigger budget doesn’t automatically equal a better vacation! The goal is finding the experience that gives you the most value for what you want to spend.

5. Make your “must-have” list

What would make you come home and say, “That was exactly the vacation I wanted”?

Maybe it’s an oceanfront room. Maybe the kids need a great pool. Maybe you want all-inclusive so you don’t have to think about meals. Maybe nonstop flights are non-negotiable. Maybe you’ve been dreaming about a specific experience for years.

Knowing your must-haves helps us build the trip around what matters most—and figure out where you’re willing to compromise.

You don’t need to have your 2027 vacation figured out before reaching out to your travel advisor.

That’s what we’re here for! Sometimes all you need to know is “We want somewhere warm next summer” or “We want to do something really special with the kids.” We can take it from there.

So… where are you hoping 2027 takes you?
