Experience Over Everything: Why We’ve Never Just Sold Trips

Anyone can sell you a destination. We decided 13 years ago to sell something else.

When I first stepped into the travel industry, it didn’t take long to realize something important: planning a vacation was supposed to be exciting… but for so many people, it was the exact opposite.

Instead of anticipation, I saw overwhelm. Instead of joy, I saw stress.

Families would spend hours researching hotels, comparing prices, reading conflicting reviews, trying to figure out dining reservations, park strategies, flight timing, transportation logistics, and a hundred tiny details that somehow determined whether a vacation felt magical… or exhausting.

And somewhere in all of that planning, the joy of the trip itself started slipping away.

That was the moment something clicked for me.

Travel isn’t just about where you go. It’s about how you feel while you’re there.

Thirteen years ago, when Goofy Getaways began, we made a decision that would shape everything we do.

We weren’t going to just book trips.

We were going to create experiences.

When Planning Anxiety Steals the Magic

I remember talking with families who were excited to take their kids somewhere special—Disney, Universal, cruises, or bucket-list destinations they had dreamed about for years.

But instead of feeling excited, they felt pressure.

What if they chose the wrong resort? What if they missed something important? What if they spent all that money and it wasn’t “worth it”?

And the truth is… those fears are valid.

Vacations are often the moments families save for all year. Sometimes for several years. They’re meant to be the memories that last long after the suitcases are unpacked.

No one wants to get that wrong.

That realization changed how we approached everything.

We didn’t want our clients to just arrive somewhere. We wanted them to arrive relaxed, confident, and ready to enjoy every second.

Families Deserve Support, Not Just Reservations

Another thing became clear very quickly: travel isn’t one-size-fits-all.

A honeymoon looks different than a multigenerational trip. A family with toddlers needs different guidance than a group traveling with teenagers. Some people want adventure. Others want relaxation.

And sometimes what families need most is simply someone who understands the emotional side of travel.

Someone who can say:

“I’ve got you. Let’s make this easy.”

Because when families feel supported, everything changes.

The questions become easier. The decisions become clearer. And suddenly the excitement comes back.

The Shift from Booking to Curating

Over time, what we do evolved.

Yes, we still handle the logistics. Flights, resorts, cruises, park reservations, dining, excursions, and all the moving pieces that make a trip work smoothly.

But the heart of what we do is something much bigger.

We curate experiences.

We think about the little details that turn a vacation into a memory.

The restaurant your kids will talk about for years. The quiet moment watching fireworks together. The surprise upgrade that makes the whole trip feel extra special.

Those are the moments people remember.

Those are the moments that matter.

What Success Really Looks Like

In this industry, success is often measured by numbers.

How many trips were booked. How many destinations were sold. How much revenue came in.

But that’s never been the way we measure it.

For us, success sounds like a message that says:

“This was everything.”

It’s the photo of a family standing in front of Cinderella Castle with tears in their eyes because their kids finally experienced the magic.

It’s the couple celebrating an anniversary they thought they might never take.

It’s the multigenerational trip where grandparents, parents, and kids create memories together that will be talked about for decades.

That’s what matters.

Why We Still Do It This Way

Thirteen years later, our philosophy hasn’t changed.

Anyone can sell a destination.

But creating an experience that feels seamless, joyful, and meaningful? That takes intention. It takes knowledge. And it takes people who genuinely care.

At Goofy Getaways, we believe vacations should feel as good in the planning stage as they do when you arrive.

Because when the details are handled, the stress is gone, and the experience is thoughtfully curated…

That’s when the magic happens.

And that’s why we’ve never just sold trips. We’ve always sold something much more important. Experiences.
