To get you set for all things spooky and fun, we’re sharing five tips with you for a spooktacular night!
Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party is a memorable seasonal experience for families, friends, and groups. No matter who you’re with, it’s bound to be a spell-binding event!
1) Know the park and party hours! Typically, the party begins at 7pm with the park closing to guests without MNSSHP tickets at 6pm (this is important to know even if you are not attending the party - because it means your park day is cut short). Party guests can enter the park starting at 4pm with their party ticket to take advantage of the park’s offerings, and MNSSHP runs until midnight.
2) Make the most of the party time. To do this, we recommend a nap or rest at your resort before the party. To optimize your rest, plan to skip rope drop the next morning after the party, and eat a larger, late lunch/early dinner before the party begins. This will allow you to feel rested while enjoying light food or snacks during the actual event. You can also eat when you get into Magic Kingdom after 4pm, but keep in mind that some dining locations will close or not offer mobile ordering from 6-7pm as they transition to the party; this helps to encourage non-party guests to exit the park.
3) Use the party for party-specific experiences. While it can be fun to hop on a ride or two with low wait times during the party, we recommend your main focus be on the special party events since that is what you are truly paying for with this special ticket. Things like special character meet and greets, the parades and shows, and even special holiday treats are a great focus during the party.
Trick-or-Treat Trails throughout the park are an event highlight. Be sure to ask the Disney Cast Members “What’s your bat’s name?” when you’re getting your candy from each station.
4) Be prepared for the weather. August and September party dates can often be very warm, so plan any costumes accordingly (see costume guidelines HERE). MNSSHP falls during hurricane season for Florida, so all three months are known to have “pop up” rain showers throughout the day… which means it’s a great idea to bring comfortable shoes that dry quickly as well as poncho or an umbrella. The party will typically still run rain or shine and Disney only does refunds when they cancel the event in the case of extreme weather.
5) Get your tickets early. Popular dates sell out quickly (usually the first and last party are the first ones to sell out). While ticket prices will vary per date, mark your calendar! Tickets will be available for purchase starting on May 15 for guests staying at select Walt Disney World Resort hotels, Walt Disney World Swan and Dolphin Hotels, and Shades of Green… what a bonus for staying on property! Tickets will be available beginning May 22 for all other guests who would like to attend.
