Best Resorts For Different Family Dynamics

Picking the right Disney world resort is an important part of planning any Disney vacation. We are here to provide you with the best tips to make sure that your resort is the “home away from home”, that meets your own family’s needs. Every family going to Disney has their own sets of needs that make their dream vacation possible so here are some options that may meet your own family’s needs!

The Muti-Generational Trip

Disney can be a magical place to bring the family together and make lasting memories that can last forever. The question is where to stay? One of my favorite options is Disney’s Art of Animation Resort! Art of Animation offers family suites themed to different Disney classics including The Lion King, Finding Nemo, and Cars. These suites can sleep up to six adults in one suite. These suites provide a separate bedroom with a queen bed and a living room and kitchenette that feature a pull out and pull-down double bed. These suites also have two bathrooms that can give larger families plenty of room to get ready for their day without feeling like they are tight on space.

Art of Animation also has a cafeteria style quick service are that will give the whole family room to sit down and have meals together, while also giving a variety of meal options that will meet the taste of the whole family!

Families with Kids

The Disney resort that you pick can be very important when traveling with children. Whether it is a rest day or an afternoon break from the parks, it is important to pick a resort that allows the fun to continue for the whole family when you are not in the parks. A resort that would be a great option for families in Disney’s Beach Club Resort. One perk to this resort is it is a Skyliner resort, which could allow you to quickly get back to the resort from EPCOT or Hollywood Studios if you need an afternoon break from the parks.

This resort has amenities for the whole family, including Stormalong Bay, which is one of the largest pools on Disney property. Stormalong Bay offers multiple pools that meet the needs of the whole family. When it comes to the little kids, there is a shallow pool with Mini water slides so they can safely enjoy the fun. Older kids can explore a life-sized shipwreck replica before going down a 30-foot waterslide! For those looking for a more relaxing pool experience Stormalong Bay’s three whirlpool spas and their lazy river!

If your family needs a break from pool activities you can also spend some time in the resort’s arcade, watching a Disney movie under the stars, or getting some ice cream at Beaches and Cream Soda Shop!

 The Adult Only Trip

Disney is made for the kid and the kid at heart, but that doesn’t mean that you cannot have a luxurious adult-only experience!  Disney’s Gran Destino Tower at Coronado Springs is a great example. This is a moderate resort that will make you think that you are staying at a deluxe resort. Gran Destino Tower is a perfect place to relax and rejuvenate while you are not at the parks offering high scale restaurants, a coffee bar, lounges and art.

Gran Destino Tower gives an elegant experience when it comes to food, for the adventurous eater and the picky eater alike. They have options ranging from the high-end Toledo, their Spanish-inspired rooftop restaurant to El Mercado de Coronado that offers a variety of foods for breakfast lunch and dinner. The resort also offers a number of lounges that are available for the guests. The Barcelona Lounge can be a great way to start your day, at this coffee lounge that offers’ small breakfast options. The Dahlia Lounge is a beautiful setting that offers wine and other cocktails.

Gran Destino Tower has an art influence that can give adults a hands-on experience that is so unique to this resort. The resort offers a painting class every Friday where you can create your own piece of art that you can take home, while enjoying the amazing views from Toledo. You can also make your own mosaic art that allows you to be creative with a Disney touch.

No matter how you choose to spend your time at this resort, you can have a luxurious adult only trip, while being right on Disney property, and minutes from the parks.

The Trip with Accessibility Needs

As a person with accessibility needs myself, I know how important it is to make sure that a resort meets your family’s accessible needs. The resort that I have found the most accessible is the Contemporary Resort.  The Contemporary has accessible rooms like the other resorts on property, but during my own stay it had a handicap button inside the room that gave me a sense of independence unlike any other trip. This allows guest with accessibility needs to come and go as needed without having to fight heavy resort doors while trying to navigate into the room on their own. The freedom that this creates can nit be understated no matter who is in your group.

The contemporary also provides some of the easiest access to the parks. The contemporary is a monorail resort, which provides access to Magic Kingdom and EPCOT. The monorail allows for wheelchairs and scooters to be loaded on quickly with a portable ramp. The Resort also has complementary bus access to Animal Kingdom and Hollywood Studios that are also accessible for wheelchairs and scooters.

No matter what your family dynamic looks like, the resort that you pick can be very important. The resort that you chose will be a part of memories that will last a lifetime.
