Advisor Spotlight - Lauren Levesque
Hi! I'm Lauren Levesque, a wife, mom of three, and Travel Advisor with Goofy Getaways. My family and I now live in South Carolina, but I lived most of my life in the New England area. Travel has always been such a big part of our lives. I joined Goofy Getaways in 2023, and what started as a way to combine something I loved with the flexibility I needed as a mom has grown into something I'm incredibly passionate about.
Being a mom has shaped the way I approach travel. I know firsthand that traveling as a family isn't always as simple as picking a pretty resort and booking a flight. Different ages, personalities, budgets, sensory needs, and expectations all play a role, and I love helping families put those pieces together.
What I Specialize In
Disney destinations are a huge part of what I do, including Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and Adventures by Disney. I also plan Universal Orlando, cruises, all-inclusive vacations, and customized domestic and international trips.
I especially love working with families, multigenerational groups, solo parents traveling with their kids, and families who may need a little more guidance navigating sensory needs or simply all of the options that come with planning a vacation. As a mom, I understand that planning all the logistics of traveling with kids can feel like a full-time job before the vacation even begins - and if you're the only parent traveling, things like transportation, room setup, dining, activities, and safety become even more important. I love helping take some of that mental load off so parents can actually look forward to the trip instead of feeling overwhelmed by it.
There is rarely one "best" resort, cruise, or destination for everyone. My job is figuring out which one is best for you and the way your family travels.
Why I Became a Travel Advisor
I worked as a hairstylist for 15 years, and I truly loved what I did, but as my kids got older, I realized I needed a career that gave me more flexibility and allowed me to be home and present for them more. Travel and travel planning were already things I genuinely loved, so becoming a Travel Advisor felt like a natural way to combine something I was passionate about with what my family needed in that season of life.
When I was looking into becoming a Travel Advisor, I knew I didn't just want somewhere that would allow me to book trips. I wanted an agency where I could learn, grow, ask questions, and have support behind me. Goofy Getaways felt like the right fit because of the knowledge and experience within the agency and the emphasis on really taking care of clients. Since joining in 2023, I've learned an incredible amount, and I love that there is always something new to learn in this industry.
My Favorite Trips to Plan
This is a hard one because I genuinely love so many different types of travel, but Disney vacations and cruises will probably always have a special place in my heart. I also really enjoy the trips where clients come to me with an idea rather than a plan. They might say, "We want to take the kids somewhere tropical," or "We want to do something really special for our anniversary," and I get to take that starting point and turn it into an actual vacation.
A Lesson I've Learned the Hard Way
One of the biggest lessons I've learned through my own travels is that trying to do everything can actually make a vacation less enjoyable. It is so easy to look at a destination and think, "We're already here, so we HAVE to do this, this, this, and this." Then suddenly you've planned every minute of your vacation and need a vacation from your vacation.
I've learned to leave room for flexibility. Some of our favorite travel memories have come from slowing down, changing the plan, or simply enjoying where we are instead of racing to the next thing.
What I Love Most About This Job
Getting to know my clients and then seeing everything come together is easily my favorite part. I love when I've worked with a family long enough that I already know what they're going to love - or what they're absolutely NOT going to love. And of course, getting the pictures and messages while clients are traveling saying, "We LOVE it here!" never gets old.
The hardest part is probably accepting that there are some things I simply can't control. Flights get delayed. Weather happens. Prices change. Availability disappears. As someone who wants everything to go perfectly for my clients, that can be hard! But that's also where having a Travel Advisor becomes valuable - I can prepare my clients, help them understand their options, and work through the things we can control.
My Advice to Any Traveler
Don't plan your vacation based on what everyone else says you "have" to do. Your neighbor's favorite resort might not be yours. The perfect itinerary for one family could be exhausting for another. Think about how YOU want to travel. Your budget, your pace, your priorities, and your idea of a great vacation should be what drives the planning process.
