Advisor Spotlight: Darcy Roy

This week we're spotlighting Darcy Roy, one of our advisors specializing in Disney destinations, cruises, and Universal trips for families with young children, based in New Hampshire. A hairstylist turned travel professional, Darcy learned early on that packing a Disney day morning to night can backfire, so she now builds breathing room into every itinerary she plans. Get to know the advisor behind the trip, and the lesson she's learned that makes every family vacation feel less like a checklist.

Tell Us a Little About Yourself

Hi! My name is Darcy, and I’m a busy mom, wife, hairstylist, and travel professional. I’ve always loved helping people, building relationships, and creating experiences that make others feel special.

Family is incredibly important to me, and that is a big part of why I’m so passionate about helping families plan meaningful vacations and make memories together. As a travel advisor, I love taking the stress out of planning and helping my clients create trips that are personalized, exciting, and unforgettable.

I’m also someone who is always looking for ways to grow, both personally and professionally. I believe in working hard, supporting others, and stepping outside of my comfort zone. Whether I’m behind the chair, planning a dream vacation, or spending time with my family, my goal is always to create meaningful connections and make a positive impact on the people around me.

What Types of Trips Do You Specialize In?

I specialize in Disney destinations, cruises, universal, and family vacations! I love helping families create unforgettable experiences, whether that’s a magical Walt Disney World vacation, a Disney Cruise, a relaxing beach getaway, or another exciting family adventure. My goal is to make the planning process easy and stress-free while helping my clients create memories they’ll cherish forever.

What Made You Decide to Become a Travel Advisor?

What made me become a travel advisor was my love for travel and the memories that come from experiencing new places with the people you love. As a busy mom and wife, I understand how valuable family time is and how stressful planning a vacation can sometimes feel.

I realized that I loved not only traveling, but also helping others plan trips and create those same unforgettable memories with their families. Becoming a travel agent gave me the opportunity to turn that passion into something meaningful. I love being able to take the stress out of planning and help my clients create vacations that fit their families, their dreams, and their budgets.

For me, it’s about so much more than booking a trip—it’s about helping people make memories that will last a lifetime.

Tell Us About How You Joined Goofy Getaways

I joined Goofy Getaways because I wanted to be part of a travel community that shares my passion for helping families create unforgettable memories. I was looking for an agency that would not only provide the knowledge, support, and resources to help me grow as a travel advisor, but also encourage me to build meaningful relationships and run my business in a way that feels authentic to me.

Goofy Getaways stood out to me because of its strong sense of community and the support they provide their advisors. As someone who is passionate about Disney, cruises, and family vacations, I knew it would be a great fit for me and the type of travel experiences I want to specialize in.

Joining Goofy Getaways has given me the opportunity to continue learning, growing, and doing what I love most—helping families plan vacations and create memories they will cherish forever.

What Are Your Favorite Types of Trips to Plan?

My favorite trips to plan are Disney vacations! There is something so special about helping families experience the magic of Disney and create memories they will talk about for years to come. I love that every Disney vacation can be completely personalized based on each family’s interests, ages, budget, and travel style.

From choosing the perfect resort and helping with dining and park plans to sharing tips that make the vacation feel less stressful, I love being part of the excitement from the very beginning. As a mom myself, I especially enjoy helping families make the most of their time together and create a vacation that is both magical and memorable.

What is One of the Biggest Travel Mistakes You’ve Made?

One of the biggest travel mistakes I’ve made was trying to do too much and pack everything into one trip. I used to feel like we had to see and do everything, especially when visiting a destination like Disney. I quickly learned that overplanning can sometimes create unnecessary stress and take away from simply enjoying the experience.

That experience taught me that vacations don’t have to be perfectly planned or packed from morning to night to be memorable. Now, I believe in finding the right balance between having a plan and leaving room for flexibility, relaxation, and unexpected moments. It’s something I keep in mind when planning trips for my clients—helping them make the most of their vacation without feeling like they need a vacation from their vacation!

What is Your Favorite Parts of Helping Your Clients?

My favorite part of helping clients plan their trips is seeing their excitement come to life. I love getting to know each family, learning what they hope to experience, and helping create a vacation that feels perfect for them.

The best feeling is knowing that I’ve helped take the stress out of planning so my clients can focus on making memories with the people they love. From the first conversation to hearing about their trip afterward, being part of their journey and helping create unforgettable experiences is what I love most about being a travel advisor.

What is the Hardest Part of Being a Travel Advisor?

One of the hardest parts about being a travel advisor is that there is always something new to learn. Travel is constantly changing, from destinations and resorts to policies, promotions, and travel requirements, so staying knowledgeable and up to date is incredibly important.

Another challenge is balancing all the behind-the-scenes work while still giving every client the personalized attention they deserve. But honestly, that challenge has also helped me grow. I’m continually learning how to become more organized, knowledgeable, and efficient so I can provide the best possible experience for my clients.

At the end of the day, knowing that I’m helping families create unforgettable memories makes all of the hard work worth it!

If You Could Share One Piece of Advice for Any Traveler, What Would it Be?

One piece of advice I would give to any traveler is to remember that you don’t have to do everything to have an amazing vacation. Make a plan, but leave room for flexibility and unexpected moments especially with children. Some of the best memories happen when things don’t go exactly as planned.

Focus on enjoying the experience, being present with the people you’re traveling with, and making memories—not checking every single thing off a list.
