A Women's Getaway on the Disney Destiny

Seven adult women (no kids), two staterooms and countless fun on board the Disney Destiny!

This isn't your typical family Disney vacation. This is the grown-up version, where every adult did exactly what she came for.

Disney doesn’t just separate adults from the children. It subtly weaves all areas around the ship in order to keep the experiences, themes, service and functionality that Disney is known to excel at.

As we boarded and explored the ship, the Destiny’s Heroes and Villains atmosphere was evident through-out. The artwork and decor were filled with old and new characters alike! We felt our vacation started with reminiscing and laughing of shared experiences with my mom, daughter and niece.

When we decided to head to the pool deck for the Sail Away Party, we were able to get an up front view on the adult only pool deck. This allowed us to watch and enjoy the show in a relaxed way while still allowing room for families on the deck below.

Our staterooms were perfect for adult-only vacation. The split bathrooms were a game changer! We had 4 adult women wanting to freshen make up, hair and change clothes. With mirrors in each bathroom, a full length mirror and a vanity style mirror in the main stateroom area allowed ample space for all of us to get ready without getting into each other’s way. Some of us would wear clothes related to a theme for one of the lounges or dining rooms and others would wear a comfortable casual outfit.

Even though Palo Steakhouse and Enchante are adult-only restaurants, our party of 7 chose not to make reservations and just enjoy the three rotational dining locations. The Pridelands entertainment was exceptional. 1923 was elegant and historical. World of Marvel really put our group in a festive mood with the on screen trivia. In each restaurant,we were able to have a table to ourselves so each night we came together to enjoy each other’s company and discuss how we spent our day. Just because we are adults doesn’t mean we have non-picky palates. Everyone was able to find food that we enjoyed on the adult menu. The 21 year old did think about the children’s menu a time or two but ended up with an adult starter, entree and dessert anyway.

Many evenings after dinner some would head up to the staterooms to end the day and others would continue the night together. We would go to the variety lounges and bars. There were so many adult areas to spend time in. The Haunted Mansion Parlor where the ghostly theme was so immersive. DeVill’s piano bar was luxurious with the red, black and white decor. Dr Strange inspired The Sanctum with live music each night. The pirated themed Cask & Cannon with a treasure trove of drinks.

Each day we were able to attend the Broadway style shows such as Frozen and Hercules. We also attended events like bingo, trivia, and other fun and lively activities designed for adults and children. Disney has a way of making family activities not child centered where a good time can be had by all. In the evenings, there was still adult only entertainment where there were shows and activities for 18+. The Quiet Cove pool had a lovely serene atmosphere. Each Castaway Cay and Lookout Cay had adult-only beaches and eating locations where adults could spend time relaxing in the sun and have a quiet lunch. It was a perfect mix of adventure, relaxation, and bonding time.

A few smart planning moves can make an adult only girls cruise feel effortless. The Destiny offers adult-exclusive retreats designed for exactly the kind of guilt-free relaxation a girls trip demands. Once you've sailed the Disney Destiny as an adult, you'll wonder why you ever thought it was just for families.
